You may save or at least avoid an overspend, so why pay more for something that does not fully meet the needs?

Approximate price: 1,500 euros per year could save over one million tons of CO2 (carbon dioxide), mainly responsible for climate change, if households reduced their electricity consumption by replacing obsolete appliances with more modern and energy efficient. This is one of the conclusions of a study by Electrolux in 793 cities in 22 European countries, 32 in Spain, including the major provincial capitals.

The study results are based on the hypothetical situation that all Spanish households in the sample replace all appliances with more than ten years old by more efficient, so-called energy rating of A or higher. The amount of CO2 emissions in Spain would save the equivalent of that would be emitted if all the families of the cities studied would lead to both their cars for 526 miles, the study said.

It also states that the annual saving in economic terms would be about 175 million euros and in energy terms, of nearly 1,400 million kilowatt hours, an amount equivalent to the expenditure that would be generated if every household in the sample left a lighted 60-watt bulb for 69 days. Regarding the consumption of water, another variable that is taken into account in the case of appliances such as washing machines or dishwashers, the savings would be 21,000 million liters per year, equivalent to what it would if all households leave a faucet open during three hours.

In Europe, the study shows that if all European homes of the 22 countries considered replacing your old refrigerator, freezer and dishwasher with more efficient, would be emitted into the atmosphere about 18 million tonnes of CO2.
